Passports & Visas

U.S. Passport

Us-passportA passport is the most essential document everyone needs in order to enter a foreign country. New passports could take 4-6 weeks for processing so we advise students to apply early to avoid delay.

If your student already has a passport, he or she should make sure it is valid until at least six months after the return date to the United States. General information about obtaining a U.S. passport can be found on the High Point University Study Abroad Passport Information page or from the U.S. Department of State’s Passports webpage.

Visa

Visa_France2A visa is an entry/residence permit and official permission granted by the authorities of the country (via its Consulate in the United States) where your student will study.  If the student has to apply for a visa, know the appropriate foreign consulate that has jurisdiction in the student’s state of permanent residence.

Your student has been advised to research this information early. Information about visa requirements for HPU study abroad programs can be found on the Visa Information page.
