Students may enroll in a program in German language and culture or a program in international business/marketing.

Terms available:  Fall (late August to mid-December) & Spring (mid-January to early May)

Requirements:  3.0 cumulative GPA, 3.0 major GPA, Junior status; 4 semesters of college-level German for language/culture program

Application deadlines:  March 15 for Fall term abroad; October 1 for Spring term abroad

 

Academic Program

Schiller International University’s multinational student body is drawn from a variety of countries and backgrounds. The student body in Heidelberg is comprised of men and women from over 45 countries. Students at SIU study in small classes that allow maximum attention to the needs of the individual student. The friendly atmosphere found at each campus aids students in adjusting to a different country and culture and, for some, to a new language.

Schiller International University continues to propose education as a force to unite people, nations and cultures to encourage active development of international understanding. Close attention is paid to each individual student to help create a holistic education where equal emphasis is placed on professionalism and on the education as a whole for each person.

Since the summer of 2012, the Heidelberg campus is located at brand-new facilities in the Bahnstadt area in Heidelberg in order to provide students with the latest in modern facilities and equipment to meet the standards of a technologically evolving global marketplace.

Credit for Semester Study Abroad

For High Point University to recognize the credits you complete abroad, you must earn a grade equivalent to a C in the U.S. HPU will not accept credit for courses with grades of C– or below. Grades for all courses earned abroad are recorded on the foreign transcript. Credits are received by HPU as transfer credits, which means the credit is received but the grade is not. Your HPU grade point average will not be impacted positively or negatively by your study abroad courses.

Housing

At Schiller International University, students will either participate in a home stay or live in an on-campus residence hall, depending on the program choice.

NOTE: German majors/minors must participate in a home stay.

Cost Breakdown for Fall 2013 & Spring 2014

Application Fee: $500.00

The application fee is non-refundable. Due at time of application.

 

Program Fee: $17,987.50

The program fee is payable to High Point University and includes tuition, fees, and housing. Participants are billed at the HPU All-Inclusive Fee rate of $20,800 with a less of $2,812.50 for meals not included.
