Academic Program

Modules are available to HPU students in the Art, Media, and American Studies; History; Literature, Drama, and Creative Writing; Language and Communication Studies; Political, Social, and International Studies and Philosophy; Economics; Education; International Development; Business (for year-long study only); Psychology; Biology; Chemistry; Computing Sciences; Environmental Sciences; Mathematics; and Natural Sciences.

A full course load is usually equivalent to three modules per semester; however, some modules are particularly popular and students are requested to provide at least 9 module choices per semester. When choosing modules, students will need to choose at least 2/3 of their modules from one school/faculty.

Important Note: Autumn-only students must either not select modules with exams or request alternative assessments from the professor of the module. Your study abroad advisor can request more information on the availability of alternative assessments prior to departure.

More information can be found in the course catalog or on the University of East Anglia website.

Credit Transfer

For High Point University to recognize the credits you complete abroad, you must earn at least a grade equivalent to a C in the U.S. HPU will not accept credit for courses with grades of C– or below. Grades for all courses earned abroad are recorded on the international transcript. Credits are received by HPU as transfer credits which means the credit is received but the grade is not. Your HPU grade point average will not be impacted positively or negatively by your study abroad courses.

Note: In order to satisfy General Education (Core) requirements, a course must earn a minimum of 3 credits. While HPU is able to accept a relevant course worth one or two credits, one and two credit courses earned at the University of East Anglia will not satisfy your General Education requirements.
