Summer Experience gives entering first year students the opportunity to jump-start their academic career by gaining eight credits toward graduation before the freshman year officially starts. Collaboration is an integral part of High Point University’s liberal arts experience. Summer Experience will help you build a strong academic foundation while acclimating you to the unparalleled social, recreational and service opportunities available to you at HPU. You’ll improve your time management skills as you discover how to use different learning styles effectively, and you’ll become acquainted and comfortable with the HPU community as you network with your peers, Student Success Coach and academic professors.
Summer Experience 2017 will be held from Saturday, July 1 to Friday, July 28.
Move-in for Summer Experience will be held on Saturday, July 1st from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Lunch will be provided for students and families from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The SE2017 student and parent orientation will be from 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm. This concludes the parent portion of Summer Experience move-in. An exciting evening activity along with dinner is planned for Saturday, July 1st. A more detailed schedule of events for move-in weekend will be provided to students and parents in May 2017.
Classes will begin on Monday, July 3 and run through Friday, July 28. Students will have exams on Thursday, July 27 and Friday, July 28. Move-out day will also be held on Friday, July 28 once students finish their last final exam that morning. Students will be finished with their exam on that Friday before 12:00 pm.
Register HERE online for Summer Experience 2017! The comprehensive cost for SE2017 is $8,000 and includes tuition, room and board, meal plan and all other expenses, excluding textbooks and personal items. This comprehensive fee also includes NC Dining Plan State Sales Tax of $60.88.
An optional leadership learning opportunity will be available to interested students throughout SE2017. The purpose is to encourage students to carefully analyze their responsibilities and commitments in the context of leadership for common good and purposeful change. Students will learn the foundations of leadership and develop their own leadership potential through the completion of self-assessments, values exploration and leadership skill practice through campus and community activities. Get to know yourSELF at SE2017! No credits provided. Summer Experience Leadership Foundations is an optional opportunity in which students can participate during Summer Experience.
Summer Experience students are required to live on campus. All students are housed in the same residence hall (University Center 2), creating a strong sense of community and fellowship. Summer Experience housing assignments will be given upon arrival.
