Summer Experience, designed specifically for first year students, gives entering students the opportunity to jump-start their academic career and college journey by gaining eight credits toward graduation before the freshman year officially starts. Collaboration is an integral part of High Point University’s liberal arts experience. Summer Experience will help you build a strong academic foundation while acclimating you to the unparalleled social, recreational and service opportunities available to you at HPU. You’ll become acquainted and comfortable with the HPU community as you network with your peers, Student Success Coach and academic professors.
Summer Experience 2018 will be held from Saturday, June 23 to Friday, July 20.
Move-in for Summer Experience will be held on Saturday, June 23d from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Lunch will be provided for students and families. The SE2018 student and parent orientation will be from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm. This concludes the parent portion of Summer Experience move-in. An exciting evening activity along with dinner is planned for Saturday, June 23rd. A more detailed schedule of events for move-in weekend will be provided to students and parents in May 2018.
Classes will begin on Monday, June 25th. Students will have exams on Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20. Move-out day will also be held on Friday, July 20th once students finish their last final exam that morning. Students will be finished with their exam on that Friday before 12:00 pm.
Registration for Summer Experience 2018 is now open! You can register online HERE. Your “Summer Experience” deposit is due within 10 business days of completing your registration form. You can pay your deposit online through your MyHPU page. This will ensure your registration in the program.
The comprehensive cost and financial investment for SE2018 is $8,500 and includes tuition, room, meal plan, NC Tax and all other expenses, excluding textbooks and personal items. The North Carolina tax of 6.75% for the meal plan is $63.32.
An optional leadership learning opportunity will be available to interested students throughout SE2018. The purpose is to encourage students to carefully analyze their responsibilities and commitments in the context of leadership for common good and purposeful change. Students learn the foundations of leadership and develop their own leadership potential through the completion of self-assessments, values exploration and leadership skill practice through campus and community activities. Get to know yourSELF at SE2018! No credits provided. Summer Experience Leadership Foundations is an optional opportunity in which students can participate during Summer Experience.
Summer Experience students are required to live on campus. All students are housed in the same residence hall (Wanek Center), creating a strong sense of community and fellowship. The SE2018 student and parent orientations will be from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm- this will conclude the parent portion of Summer Experience move-in.
