In the latest update to Blackboard, the calendar feature has been greatly improved. You can locate the “My Calendar” module on your homepage, or under “My Blackboard” in the Global Navigation area. The Global Navigation area is located in the upper right hand corner where your name is displayed. The calendar includes all the events and due dates for each course you are enrolled in instructing, as well as an institutional calendar and a personal calendar.
As an instructor, you can change the due date of an assignment just by dragging it from one day to another. If there is a time associated with it, the time will be the same on the new date. That change will then be automatically reflected on your students’ calendar in Blackboard as well.
As great as the Blackboard calendar tool is, you still have your professional calendar in Outlook. Wouldn’t it be nice to have everything in one place? Well, you can! Using the “Internet Calendar” option in Outlook, you can subscribe you Blackboard calendar and see all of your due dates right alongside your Outlook events. Set up this way, the Blackboard and Outlook calendars synchronize every four hours. Below are instructions on how to synchronize your Blackboard calendar to Outlook 2010 for Windows. Unfortunately, Outlook for Mac does not support internet calendars.
