To the parents of the Class of 2017, congratulations! You raised your student to be a scholar, a leader, an explorer and a friend. Your sons and daughters were valedictorians, class presidents, star athletes and Eagle Scouts. We are absolutely honored that together, you and your student chose to call High Point University your new home.
As a parent, I know that now is the hardest time. You’re nervous about leaving your student somewhere unfamiliar. Will he or she be successful? Taken care of? Happy? My advice to you would be this: take a deep breath. Your student has been incredibly successful up until this point, and we have no intention of letting that stop any time soon. You’ve done a wonderful job instilling values into your student and we want to continue down that same path, all while preparing him or her for a prosperous life in the ever-changing global marketplace.
From the bottom of my heart, and from all of us at High Point University, but especially in admissions, I want to thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for believing in our institution as much as we do. Thank you for giving us such extraordinary minds to work with. And mostly, thank you for letting our families join together.
This inspiring place is not just home for your students, but for you, as well.
My sincere hope is that after seeing your child flourish here, you will be as proud of High Point University as we are, and that one day you will become a resource for the parents of future High Point classes.
Thank you for all that you have done for your student and for this school, and thank you for all that you will continue to do.
To the parents of the Class of 2018, the torch is being passed to you now. In their last year of high school, your student will face difficult classes, demanding extracurricular activities and many hard choices. Of these choices, where he or she will commit to spending the next four years is likely the most important. While you and your student are searching, visiting, applying and waiting, please know that my team and I are here for you. Your student is more than a number to us at High Point University, he or she is a future family member, as are you. It is their time to shine, and your time to guide them. Let us help you on your journey. Our doors are always open.
