The <b>General Education Requirements <\/b>listed in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/registrar\/undergraduate-bulletins\/\"><i> Undergraduate Bulletin<\/i><\/a> is your starting point<i>.<\/i> A student should always develop a tentative schedule prior to meeting with their advisor each time for registration.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">COURSE PLANNING<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Requirements of your major may be found elsewhere on this website under \u201c<b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Majors<\/span><\/b>.\u201d Students may take a total of 12-18 credit hours per semester: 12 credits minimum required for full-time status; 18 credits is the maximum credit load; overloads of 19 or more require permission from the Dean of your College or School.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Transfer students need to refer to their \u201cTransfer Equivalencies Evaluation\u201d for credit awarded for appropriate courses.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">SOME IMPORTANT REGISTRATION POINTS TO REMEMBER<\/span><\/b><b>:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ALL courses are one semester in length. You are only registering for one semester of a course (not an entire year).<\/li>\n<li>Courses are by credit hour &#8211; most courses are four credit hours. (It takes 128 credit hours to graduate.)<\/li>\n<li>Try to avoid taking 3 back-to-back courses. It is generally a good idea, anyway, not to have three courses back-to-back <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">anytime<\/span>. Two courses back-to-back are usually okay.<\/li>\n<li>Try to avoid scheduling all of your courses on M-W-F or TUES-THURS. It may sound good, but doesn\u2019t work well for most students. Spread them out. If possible, the best is half on M-W-F and half on T-TH.<\/li>\n<li>Courses are generally numbered according to academic credits: 1000-level courses are freshmen courses; 2000-level for sophomores; 3000-level for juniors; 4000-level for seniors.<\/li>\n<li>You may DROP\/ADD and change courses through the first week of classes. The last day to DROP a course with a \u201cW\u201d is the Friday after Fall or Spring break, as appropriate.
