Call us biased, but we know there is something special about fall in North Carolina. #HighPointHappy
Fall 2014 officially starts tonight at 10:29, but there’s no need to hold tight to the last few hours of summer. Fall festivities are calling our names!
Wake up, grab breakfast in the café and jump in the car with your friends. Destination: Hanging Rock. Nestled only 50 miles from High Point University, Hanging Rock is the perfect weekend-afternoon activity. Enjoy scenic views and the fall foliage as you let nature put life’s hectic pace into perspective. Pack a picnic to enjoy at the top, or better yet – stop by the original Dairi-O in King, NC on your way home. We promise you won’t be disappointed. [Yes, it really does resemble a milkshake!]
HPU students mark your calendars for October 11; the Campus Activities Team is going to the Dixie Classic Fair! Always a student favorite, this 132-year classic makes us all revert back to our childhood glory days. Whether you live for the thrill of roller-coasters, are the king or queen of the fair games, or you’ve just got your eye on the food [you can smell a funnel cake a mile away], we promise you won’t be disappointed.
While your calendar is still out, make sure you reserve October 30 for Spooky Woods. Yep, that’s right. Campus Activities Team is going there too! Voted the #1 Scream Park in America by Haunted World Magazine, Spooky Woods is less than 10 miles from High Point University’s campus and is sure to give you a thrill.
You don’t even have to leave campus for this event. As soon as the sun sets on October 31, the festivities begin on the Kester International Promenade. An annual tradition at High Point University, Halloweenfest encompasses all that we love about fall. Oh, did we mention that there will be funnel cakes? P.S. Make sure to find Dr. Qubein on Halloween! You’ll be in for a [sweet] treat!
There’s no denying it, most of us are still suffering from World-Cup Fever. Good News: there’s no need to fight it! Have no fear, our men’s and women’s soccer team are here! Make sure to catch a game [or all home games] this fall.
These are just five of our favorite fall traditions, make to share your favorites with us using the hashtag #HighPointHappy.
Until Next Monday,
P.S. If you’re having trouble figuring out what you should carve on your pumpkin, may we suggest you carve an HPU pumpkin? [Great idea, right??] Don’t forget to send us the photo!
