HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 20, 2009 ? High Point University?s Business Student Association recently sponsored a talk by Peter Fjellman, CFO of Gilbarco Corporation. Fjellman spoke to students about the various aspects of Gilbarco?s business, the day-to-day activities of a business executive, and the differences between working for small businesses and large international corporations.
“It was refreshing to hear how a well-known executive performs his job, what he looks for when hiring, and the differences he sees in how to run small and large businesses,” said Matthew Schiffer, president of the BSA.
Other students saw the event as something that was particularly beneficial for those graduating soon.
“Every opportunity to close the gap between classroom and real-world learning helps us put our best foot forward once our time in the classroom has passed,” said Jeremy Hiatt, vice president of the BSA.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a subsidiary of Danaher Corporation, provides fueling and retail management systems for convenience stores, hypermarkets and service stations. The company is headquartered in Greensboro, N.C.
