HIGH POINT, N.C., March 24, 2011 ? Andrew Faust, a junior double majoring in biology and communication with an emphasis in journalism, was selected to receive the Sam J. Underwood Scholarship for 2011 by the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication at High Point University.
In addition to his class work, Faust is an intern at McNeill Lehman Public Relations in High Point, N.C., and a resident assistant at HPU. Faust is also a recipient of the Dow Jones News Fund Summer Internship Program where he will work as a multimedia editor at Scripps Networks headquarters in Knoxville, TN.
?I am very excited and thankful to have been selected to receive this scholarship,? says Faust. ?I am eager to represent HPU and the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication as a Sam J. Underwood scholar.?
Faust was selected from a pool of students by a committee of communication faculty.
The Sam J. Underwood Scholarship was established in 1992 through gifts from the estate of Roy Franklin Nelson, a friend of the university. The award was dedicated to the accomplishments of a former member of the HPU English Department, Sam J. Underwood. Eligible recipients of this scholarship are students in the area of languages or communication.
