HIGH POINT, N.C., March 17, 2011 ? Entrepreneurship students in the Phillips School of Business at High Point University recently had the chance to observe company representatives present their business plans for investment opportunities to the Piedmont Angel Network search committee. Held Feb. 22 in the Plato S. Wilson Commerce Building on campus, the meeting allowed students to witness the presentations and to hear the ensuing questions and subsequent discussions in the decision-making process.
The Piedmont Angel Network is a committed capital fund investment group based in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. This fund, known as PAN Three, provides resources for firms that have tight business plans and can be creative about getting to market. The first two funds have invested about $15 million into 21 companies including nine based in the Triad, with investments averaging between $500,000 and $1 million.
?Participants in the meeting included a company from Durham and another from Northern Virginia,? says Lou Anne Flanders-Stec, associate professor of business administration and director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at HPU. ?Our students heard each company pitch their business idea, then were able to ask them questions and discuss their thoughts with the PAN members in the room.
