HIGH POINT, N.C., March 16, 2011 ? High Point University will present the annual Gunther E. Rothenberg Seminar in Military History on Saturday, March 19, in the Phillips School of Business, Room 120. The event, which is based on the military history of Italy, is open to the public.The seminar, named for Gunther E. Rothenberg ? a world-renowned military historian who authored scores of books and articles on a wide-range of military history, is a tribute to Rothenberg?s scholarship and dedication to the field of military history. The HPU Department of History sponsors the annual seminar, which offers a different theme each year and features a host of leading scholars who present their most recent research and latest interpretations.The daylong event will feature presentations from CV Francesco Loriga, commander of the Italian Navy Historical Office; Dr. Craig Stockings, senior lecturer of the Australian Defense Forces Academy at the University of New South Wales; Dott. Ciro Paoletti, director of the ASSM; and Dr. Frederick C. Schneid, professor of history and vice chair of the Department of History at HPU. Schneid is a recognized scholar on the Napoleonic Era and military history. One of his unique teaching methods utilizes Google Map technology to bring to life battles that took place many years ago.
