HIGH POINT, N.C., March 7, 2011 ? Brothers and potential new members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at High Point University recently spent two consecutive weeks volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of High Point.
The fraternity, which plans to make the event an annual service commitment, worked rebuilding, painting and insulating a home for the organization.
?It was a really great success, we were able to paint and insulate the house,? says Dylan Smith, community service chair for the fraternity. ?It was nice to be there for the finishing touches.”
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world.
Pi Kappa Alpha is one of 15 Greek organizations at High Point University. Students at High Point University volunteer more than 30,000 hours of service annually in the local community, with Greek organizations donating a large portion of those hours.
