HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 16, 2011 – Chandler Dewitt, a rising junior and member of Kappa Delta Sorority at High Point University, is living the dream during her summer internship with Project Runway in New York City. Project Runway is a reality television show hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn on Lifetime Network where up and coming designers are selected to compete for a chance to win $100,000 dollars to start their own fashion line and present it at New York fashion week.
Dewitt, a communication major, is living in New York City and serving as the production assistant for the contestant department of Project Runway. As production assistant, Dewitt travels with the contestants on the show to every location and assists them on and off camera.
“My team works to keep the designers happy,” says Dewitt. “Because coming onto a reality show is a bit of a rude awakening for them, especially with cameras following them around 16 hours a day.”
During her internship, Dewitt hopes to learn as much as she can about production and all the different variables that have to fall into place so the show can come together.
“My favorite part about working in production is the energy behind the scenes,” says Dewitt. “When working long hours with everyone you become a big family and seeing the finished product is very rewarding”
This experience has given Dewitt valuable hands on experience and has also given her the chance to make great contacts for job opportunities in the future. Through this experience, Dewitt feels that behind the scenes production is where her future is headed.
