HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 10, 2011 – Lauren Pivirotto, a rising senior majoring in Technical Theatre and Electronic Media-Communication at High Point University, is spending her summer gaining career experience as an intern at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, N.J.
During her internship, Pivirotto has been busy working as an assistant to the costume shop supervisor, costume designer and coordinator by assisting with all costume construction and coordination for all the Mainstage shows, designing pieces for the children’s theatre series, and working backstage during all productions as a part of the wardrobe crew.
Pivirotto says she’s had the privilege of working with individuals that are well-established in theatre industry, including Jen Bender, resident director of the Lion King; Roy Miller, producer of West Side Story Revival and the Pee-Wee Herman show; and actors Judd Hirsch, Justin Guarini, Marc Summers and Meredith Patterson.
“I am extremely grateful for the experience I have had working in a professional theatre environment, and I have loved learning about the business from individuals who have worked on Broadway and in other theatres around the world,” Pivirotto says.
