HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 16, 2011 – Pamela Palmer, assistant professor of Nonprofit Leadership and Management at High Point University, was recently awarded the 2011 Guilford Nonprofit Consortium Service Award.
The Service Award is designed to recognize the exceptional and exemplary nonprofit member volunteers. The Guilford Nonprofit Consortium is an alliance of more than 250 nonprofit organizations in Guilford County that fosters mutual assistance and support within the nonprofit community to create a more efficient and effective nonprofit sector.
The award was presented to Palmer by Donna Newton, director of the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium.
“Pamela is a phenomenal volunteer,” Newton says. “Over the last year, she has contributed almost 200 volunteer hours to the consortium. … Her obvious passion is building the capacity of nonprofits in Guilford County. Newton notes that Palmer not only serves as a professor at HPU, but also serves as a member of the Consortium’s Board Development Design Committee, as well as the Curriculum Sub-Committee, and also is the author of the curriculum. She also serves as the primary instructor for two annual Nonprofit Management Institutes that are co-sponsored by HPU and the Consortium.
“Pamela is not only committed to continuing her work with the consortium, but she has volunteered to take on additional responsibilities as one of our volunteer faculty for our upcoming Board Development Academy. She is a force for good, and we are most grateful to her for her devotion to our local nonprofit sector,” Newton says.
