HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 30, 2011 – High Point University recently hired Charisse McGhee-Lazarou in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication as an assistant professor of Communication and the head of the Media Fellows Program.
In her new position, McGhee-Lazarou will be teaching courses in the Qubein School of Communication and will be responsible for creating and directing the new Media Fellows Program. As head of the Media Fellows, She will be working to give these students a foundation, perspective, and experience in media that will build a bridge between academia and the professional world.
“I am quite excited about being at High Point University at such a time as this, when so many new programs are being established and creativity is invited,” says McGhee-Lazarou.
Her previous job experience includes serving as vice president of Primetime Programming at NBC, where she created and oversaw production for the network’s primetime comedies and dramas, including “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Sisters,” “ER” and “For Your Love.” She also served three years as vice president of Scripted Programs at Lifetime Television.
McGhee-Lazarou received a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Oberlin College, and a Master of Education in interactive technologies from Harvard University.
