HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 17, 2012 – “Interiors: Design, Architecture, Culture,” an interior design journal that was co-founded by Dr. John Turpin, dean of the High Point University School of Art and Design, was recently recognized with the 2011 Best New Journal Award by the Council of Editors of Learned Journals.
The journal, which debuted in the summer of 2010, brings together the best critical work on the analysis of all types of spaces, and investigates the complexities of interior design and focuses on the impacts it has on its inhabitants.
As editor, Turpin reviews manuscripts submitted to the journal and selects the most appropriate articles to begin the double-blind review process. Once the reviews are completed, the editors provide feedback as to whether or not the article is acceptable for publication.
“I currently teach the history of architecture, interiors, and furnishings courses at HPU,” says Turpin. “As the editor of the journal, I am exposed to the latest historical research on the interior environment, which I can then deliver straight to our students.”
