HIGH POINT, N.C., March 27, 2012 – High Point University’s Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority scored a hole-in-one thanks to its successful philanthropy golf event, the Seventh Annual Crown Classic Tournament. The event, which raised money for the sorority’s national philanthropy, breast cancer education and awareness, raised $15,000 from the golf outing.
“This is an annual event that always brings a lot of fun and excitement, but it also brings a lot of people together for a good cause – breast cancer awareness and research,” says Chelsea Heim, the chapter’s director of fundraising. “We are extremely passionate about our cause and put our time and effort into making every fundraising event a great success. We had many students and players who participated that day in memory of a loved one they’ve lost to breast cancer.”
Along with High Point University, sponsors for the event included many local businesses such as Feeney’s, Red Mango, Longhorn Steakhouse, Bravo’s, Liberty Steakhouse, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Vineyard Vines and Collard Greens.
Zeta Tau Alpha hosts several events in the High Point community in an effort to support the national philanthropy and to enhance community awareness of the disease that will affect one in every eight women. Thanks to their efforts, the chapter was named “Sorority of the Year” last spring at HPU.
