HIGH POINT, N.C., May 29, 2012 – High Point University’s Panhellenic Council, the governing body for sororities on campus, recently attended the Southeastern Panhellenic Conference where they presented a check for more than $6,000 to their philanthropy, the Circle of Sisterhood.
The Circle of Sisterhood Foundation is a worldwide humanitarian effort organized by sorority women to help girls and women around the globe gain access to education. The donation made by HPU’s Panhellenic Council will allow 127 girls to go to school for one year.
“Philanthropy is one of the pillars of being a Greek-affiliated student,” says Teri Cugliari, director of Greek Life at HPU. “Circle of Sisterhood provides the opportunity for our Panhellenic women to combine education and philanthropy.”
Cugliari says that without this money, the girls and women assisted by Circle of Sisterhood would have no other access to education.
The HPU Panhellenic Council raised the money through various fundraisers throughout the year, including bake sales, T-shirt sales and more.
