HIGH POINT, N.C., May 2, 2012 – The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at High Point University recently raised funds in honor of Habitat for Humanity with their second annual “Dunk a Pike” philanthropy event.
As part of the event, the fraternity hosted a cookout for the community, and students made donations to try to dunk several of its members in a dunk tank.
“Habitat for Humanity makes a big impact in the High Point community,” says Alex Oberlander, public relations chair for the fraternity. “Our event allowed us to give back to Habitat and raise student awareness of the important services that the organization provides for communities throughout the world.”
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization that aims to eliminate homelessness by providing affordable housing for low-income families. Since the organization was founded in 1976, it has built more than 500,000 homes in addition to providing training and access to resources to help families improve their living conditions.
