HPU’s newest cohort of students represents a wide variety of academic achievement, service, backgrounds, cultures and geographic locations. Isaac Shaw, one member of the Class of 2023, brings with him many academic accolades and athletic accomplishments. Below, discover how he plans to make the most out of his time at HPU:
Name: Isaac Shaw
Hometown: Edenton, North Carolina
High school attended: Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies in Elizabeth City, North Carolina
Accomplishments: Shaw graduated with his Associate of Science from Northeast Academy, was captain of the high school’s soccer team, was awarded a scholarship to attend the National Flight Academy and is a drummer for his church’s worship band.
Major: Exercise science with a biomechanics concentration
Why you chose HPU: “I was first drawn to High Point University by the extensive choices for majors they offer. However, after visiting the campus I saw firsthand how their emphasis on life skills, mentorship and seeking opportunities will provide me with an extraordinary education. Now after moving in, my decision is only reinforced!”
What you’re looking forward to at HPU: “Aside from starting my classes, I am excited to get involved with my classmates, meet new people through campus events and clubs, taking a number of electives and participating in undergraduate research, which will allow me to broaden my understanding and discover my future career.”
