Post-graduation plans: Amanda will begin her career as U.S. Bank’s Corporate Trust Financial Management Analyst in Charlotte, North Carolina. Amanda will manage a portfolio of corporate and municipal bond accounts, ensuring accurate and timely processing of debt services. Amanda’s role requires strong attention to detail, financial acumen and the ability to interpret complex bond documents while working in a hybrid team environment.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU’s emphasis on professional development and real-world application gave me the confidence and skills to navigate competitive job markets. Through opportunities like my leadership roles, experiential learning, and speaker events, I learned how to communicate effectively, lead with purpose, and approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Professor Lillian Watson, Director of Business Communications Program, was an impactful mentor who not only supported my academic journey but also provided invaluable advice on navigating interviews, negotiating offers, and presenting myself professionally. Her guidance helped shape the confident young professional I am today.”

How you used the Office of Career & Professional Development: “I used The Office of Career & Professional Development to refine my resume, prepare for interviews, and connect with alumni in my target industries. Their support was instrumental in helping me identify my strengths and communicate them confidently in high-stakes settings.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “One of the most impactful moments during my time at HPU was participating in the HPU in the City program over fall break. Exploring New York City while visiting companies like Good Morning America, ABC News, the NBA, NFL, MLB, Morgan Stanley and Ralph Lauren gave me a firsthand look at various industries and allowed me to network with professionals who shared real-world advice and career insights. This experience expanded my professional perspective and affirmed my passion for building a meaningful career in business.” 

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s campus fosters a mindset of excellence—from the classroom to the boardroom. Being surrounded by driven peers, supportive faculty, and high-achieving alumni motivated me to set ambitious goals and pursue them with determination.” 

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “Time management, adaptability and professional communication were key life skills I developed at HPU. Balancing rigorous academics, leadership roles, and internships taught me how to prioritize tasks, remain organized, and maintain composure in fast-paced environments.” 

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “HPU instilled in me the importance of servant leadership, resilience and integrity. I will carry these values forward as I pursue a purpose-driven career and work to uplift others in both professional and community settings.” 

Advice for underclassmen: “Take initiative early—whether it’s networking, pursuing internships, or joining professional organizations. Leverage every opportunity HPU offers, and never be afraid to advocate for yourself and your goals.”
