Founder of Women and Politics Institute Visits Campus To Kick-Off New Women’s and Gender Studies Program

In honor of the new Women’s and Gender Studies minor, High Point University will host a lecture given by Dr. Karen O’Connor, founder of the Women and Politics Institute at American University in Washington, D.C. O’Connor will present, “The Importance of Being Woman,” at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 in the Phillips Hall Auditorium. The event is open to the public; no tickets are required.

HPU Expands Academic Lineup With Women’s And Gender Studies Minor

In an effort to continue expanding the curriculum at High Point University, a new minor program – Women’s and Gender Studies – will be offered at the start of the Fall 2011 semester. The program, which is directed by Dr. Judy Isaksen and Dr. Pamela Hedrick, offers courses that address issues of women and gender, and focuses on the perspectives and practices of women and men in society.
