Administered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/servicelearning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HPU Service Learning Program<\/a>, students in the program engage in ongoing service work while developing the tools and the knowledge necessary to make that work lasting and meaningful.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students will serve at least 300 hours per academic year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Once accepted, incoming students will receive information about first-year Bonner orientation in August. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Incoming Bonners will meet community partners, fellow Bonner students and review the program details. Students will also provide their placement preferences (not guaranteed) then assigned their site.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Bonner Leader Program offers a transportation option for Bonner students who lack access to reliable transportation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Eligibility Requirements: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students with service experience (including participation in High School activities, Faith-Based &amp; Civic Organizations).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Minimum GPA of 3.0.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, committed, responsible, and passionate individuals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Eligible for Federal Work-Study benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Students will be required to: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Attend an orientation prior to Week of Welcome.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Serve 8-10 hours per week every week of the semester excluding exam weeks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Attend training reflection sessions as part of their 8-10 hours of service\/week.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Maintain good academic standing (minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA)<\/li>\n<li>Attend monthly All-Bonner Meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Enroll in the Civic Responsibility and Social Innovation minor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Benefits of serving as a Bonner Leader:<br \/>\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Receive regular pay through Federal Work-Study (FWS)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Receive priority registration<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">May be able to receive academic credit for work associated with service<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Special recognition opportunities<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Opportunities to attend national conferences and meet students from other campuses engaged in making a better world<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Make contacts, develop leadership and workplace skills<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bonner Program The High Point University Bonner Leader Program seeks to transform the lives of students as well as their campuses, local communities, and nation by providing access to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10420,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_hpuaeo_plugin_post_data":"","_hpuaeo_plugin_meta_tags":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-7","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.1 (Yoast SEO v27.1.1) -
