Shawn Bowman-Hicks is delighted to join the Department of Theater and Dance this fall. Her latest adventure was in London becoming certified as a Franklin Method® Level II Educator (https://franklinmethod.com). The method combines anatomy, movement sequences, and Dynamic Neurocognitive Imagery (DNIÔ) to improve overall body awareness, flexibility, strength, function, and performance. It is transferable to any type of movement, level, or age, which is particularly exciting to her. Shawn received her MFA in Dance from The Ohio State University. She has been a guest artist and on the faculties at several schools including Salem College, The Ohio State University, Towson State, Goucher College, Wake Forest University, UNCG, and Guangxi Arts College in P.R. of China. She has performed for the Jan Van Dyke Dance Company, albaned elved dance company, AHA! Dance, International Dance Theatre (El Paso, Texas), Christina Tsoules Soriano and others. Her choreography has been presented throughout the region, as well as in New Mexico, Texas, and P.R. of China. Her faith and family drive her craft where she passionately believes dance is for everyone and encourages others to pursue dance and movement in their lives.
