This adventure will bring theatre to life! Students will walk in the footsteps of the great playwright, poet, and actor William Shakespeare. Upon arriving in England students will travel to his birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon and see for themselves what inspired Shakespeare's earliest literary works. Students will attend numerous theatrical performances and theatre workshops in some of the most famous theaters in the world, including the Royal Shakespeare Company Theater and Shakespeare’s own Globe Theater. Students will also tour London extensively, walking the same streets where Shakespeare created his masterpieces. Shakespeare is widely considered the greatest dramatist of all time, and this trip allows you the opportunity to see just why!

Program Requirements
Applicants and participants must be full-time students at High Point University in good academic standing holding at least a 2.0 GPA, and must be in good disciplinary standing.

Activities
Specific program activities in Stratford-upon-Avon include a visit to the home of Shakespeare's birth, as well as the home where his wife, Anne Hathaway, lived prior to their marriage. Participants will explore the city at their leisure and visit Shakespeare's grave at Holy Trinity Church. Also in Stratford, students will participate in a Royal Shakespeare Theater workshop!

From Stratford, students will travel to London. While in London, students will enjoy seeing Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, and Westminster Abbey, among other historical locations. Participants will attend a workshop at Shakespeare's Globe Theater - the very same theater where Shakespeare entertained the masses hundreds of years ago. Students will also partake in a workshop at the National Theater that includes backstage entry to the theater!

The remainder of the program will be spent with guided tours of London and plenty of leisure time to further explore and experience the city where Shakespeare created his greatest works.
