Set in over 200 acres of beautiful parkland, the University of Essex is a public research university in Colchester, Essex, England. It was established in 1963 and received its Royal Charter in 1965. The university’s largest campus is located within Wivenhoe Park in the English county of Essex, less than a mile from the town of Wivenhoe and two miles from the town of Colchester – England’s oldest recorded town.

Essex is a county in the east of England and is situated to the east of London. From pretty villages set in peaceful surroundings to busy market towns steeped in history, from tranquil walks along wide sandy beaches to town centers brimming with history and culture, there is plenty on offer in the beautiful county of Essex.

With students from more than 130 countries and over 40% of students coming from outside the UK the University of Essex has one of the most international student communities out of all mainstream English university outside London, according to the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017. The university is ranked 18th globally for international outlook by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
