Each Greek organization at HPU sponsors individual special events throughout the academic year. In addition, our Greeks often collaborate on initiatives for the entire Greek and/or HPU community. Below are a few annual highlights.
Every September, Greeks from all across campus pair up for a week of competition and fundraising. This year’s events include an opening ceremony, community-wide BBQ, field day events, scholarship recognition, philanthropic initiatives, motivational speakers, and the annual lip-sync completition.
‘Greeks Got Talent’ is an annual talent show sponsored by the Order of Of Omega honor society. This event is typically offered each spring semester and it showcases the creative talents of the HPU students involved in Greek Life. Performances include singing, dancing, unique demonstrations, comedy, and other highlights. All proceeds raised from ‘Greeks Got Talent’ are earmarked for the Order of Omega Scholarship Fund whose monies are allocated to assist Greek students with attending leadership development programs and other scholarly initiatives to strengthen the Greek Community at HPU.
The Interfraternity Council conducts its annual 3k Polar Bear Run and Plunge event to benefit Testicular Cancer Research every January. There is always a great turn out of dedicated community members despite the chilly weather for the run and the opportunity to jump in the Greek Village outdoor pool!
The Office of Student Life sponsors Honors Day each spring semester. This special day recognizes both Greek and Non-Greek students for their many contributions to the High Point University campus community. There are many awards given out within the Greek community. Awards include: Panhellenic Council Member of the Year, IFC Member of the Year, NPHC Member of the Year, Greek Person of the Year, Fraternity/Sorority of the Year, and Academic Excellence Awards.
