Founding Law Dean and Professor of Law Mark Martin attended the recent meeting of the American Law Institute<\/a> (ALI), held on May 22-24 in Washington, D.C. ALI commemorated its 100th Anniversary with programming about social media, artificial intelligence, and access to justice. The panel on artificial intelligence included remarks by the President of Microsoft Corporation Brad Smith (see below). Festivities also included the presentation of the ALI Henry J. Friendly Medal to the Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr.<\/p>\n

Dean Martin was elected to the American Law Institute in 2009 during his service as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of North Carolina. ALI is an esteemed organization that has been instrumental in shaping the American legal landscape since its establishment in 1923. Comprising a distinguished membership of judges, lawyers, and law professors, ALI focuses on clarifying, modernizing, and improving the law. ALI also develops model codes and principles, conducts research projects, and organizes educational activities, all of which contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship and the promotion of fair and coherent legal systems across the United States. \u201cBeing elected to ALI was truly an honor,\u201d said Dean Martin, \u201cand attending the annual meeting this year was a tremendous opportunity to learn about cutting-edge legal issues and connect with thought leaders throughout the legal profession\u2014from the judiciary, to law practice, to legal education.\u201d<\/p>\n
