January 20, 2024 marked a significant milestone for High Point Law as the school held its first Admitted Students Day.<\/h5>\n

\"hpu<\/a>Thirty-three admitted students attended the event, with 100% participation from those who registered. \u201cIn my 23 years as an admissions professional, I\u2019ve never seen perfect attendance at an admitted student event like this,\u201d said HPU Law\u2019s Associate Dean of Admissions, Jay Shively.<\/p>\n

Some traveled from nearby locales, like Greensboro and Winston-Salem, while others traveled from afar. One student journeyed northward from sunny Miami. Another student and her mother traversed the icy Western North Carolina mountains from Knoxville. Many students arrived with guests, including parents, extended family members, spouses, friends, and significant others. Over 80 students and guests attended.<\/p>\n

After a light breakfast and some mingling, the attendees heard from our Founding Dean and Professor of Law Mark Martin on why they should choose High Point Law. Some distinctives included our guaranteed externships, small Legal Research and Writing classes, unique professional formation classes, and innovative \u201cInn of Court\u201d learning style, offering higher connectivity between law students, the bar, and the bench.<\/p>\n

\"admitted<\/a><\/p>\n

The students then experienced a mock class with Associate Dean Natt Gantt. They discussed the landmark case Lucy v. Zehmer<\/i>, involving an alleged contract written on the back of a restaurant check after two farmers had been drinking at the local bar. The class was highly interactive, and the biggest feedback from students was they wished the class could have gone longer.<\/p>\n

Next, a panel of judges and lawyers shared their thoughts on legal education. A common theme arose that High Point Law will provide a fantastic education and great employment opportunities. Following the panel and time for informal conversation over lunch, attendees heard remarks from Judge Chris Dillon, the Chief Judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals and a member of HPU Law\u2019s extended faculty, a panel on \u201cWhat to Expect your 1L Year,\u201d and a panel addressing housing, financing, and accreditation.<\/p>\n

\"natt<\/a><\/p>\n

Though the formal program concluded around 2:00 p.m., optional golf cart tours were available for adventurers willing to endure the frigid temperatures. Thankfully, students and guests who toured commented on how impressed they were with HPU\u2019s award-winning campus. Later that evening, our guests were invited to return to campus for box seats at the HPU men\u2019s basketball game, where the High Point Panthers beat the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a close finish.<\/p>\n

Dean Martin reflected, \u201cI\u2019m so pleased with all the warm smiles and compliments we received following the event. Our admitted students and their guests were able to experience the inspiring vision and culture we are building here at HPU Law. I must give credit to our admissions team who made every detail special. It was truly a day to remember.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
