The Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law at High Point University is pleased to announce two additional members of our full-time faculty.<\/b><\/em><\/h3>\n

Kip Nelson, Associate Professor of Law and Assistant Director of Advocacy<\/h4>\n

\"nelson<\/a><\/p>\n

Professor Nelson is an expert appellate litigator and legal writer. For over thirteen years, he has participated in all aspects of complex litigation and appellate practice before state and federal courts as an attorney at Fox Rothschild, LLP. He has also developed and taught a law school seminar course titled Children in the Law, which addressed the allocation of rights among children, parents, and the government. Professor Nelson will teach Legal Research and Writing to first-year students and will serve as High Point Law\u2019s Assistant Director of Advocacy, working along Professor Pete Nemerovski, who will serve as Director.<\/p>\n

Professor Nelson graduated summa cum laude<\/em> and first in his class from Duke University School of Law, where he served on the Moot Court Board and was an Articles Editor for the journal Law and Contemporary Problems<\/em>. He then joined the inaugural class of Duke Law\u2019s LL.M. program in Law and Entrepreneurship. Prior to obtaining his legal degrees, he received his B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Music, magna cum laude<\/em>, from Brigham Young University.<\/p>\n

Professor Nelson has published articles on a number of different topics related to litigation, including a comprehensive review of claims for unfair and deceptive business practices under North Carolina law. He has also written on topics such as appellate standards of review, modern rules of bifurcation, and removal of actions to federal court.<\/p>\n

When asked about his new position at High Point Law, Professor Nelson expressed, \u201cI am so excited to share my passion for legal writing with the inaugural class at the law school.\u00a0 During my career, I have seen how effective advocacy can have a big impact on various audiences. I look forward to sharing in Dean Martin\u2019s vision of assisting these law students to develop not only their advocacy skills but also their life skills.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sola Babatunde, Associate Director of the Law Library and Lecturer on Law<\/h4>\n

\"sola<\/a><\/p>\n

Sola Babatunde is a highly skilled law librarian with over twenty years of law library experience. He will serve as High Point Law\u2019s Associate Director of the Law Library, helping build our library collection, establish our library services, and aid our law students in developing legal research skills.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining HPU Law, Professor Babatunde served as an Associate Librarian for Access and Emerging Technologies at Liberty University School of Law, where he managed and supervised the access service department, circulation services, ILS system administration, interlibrary loan, library use instruction, and research and reference services. In previous roles, he served as a librarian at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law and at Southern Methodist University.<\/p>\n

Professor Babatunde has authored research guides on Federal Legislative History, Regulatory History, Internet Legal Fact-finding, Congressional Records, and Self Representation in the Court or Before Administrative Tribunals. He is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) and has been spotlighted by AALL for his work in foreign, comparative, and international law.<\/p>\n

Professor Babatunde brings a rich, diverse educational background to his role at HPU Law. He received his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of North Texas, his LL. M. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, his M.Div. from Liberty University, and his LL.B. from the University of Lagos (Nigeria<\/em>).<\/p>\n

When asked about starting at HPU Law, Professor Babatunde said, \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to join the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law as the inaugural Law Librarian and Lecturer in Law. Becoming part of the Premier Life Skills University is an honor. I look forward to building a law library that will be second to none.”<\/p>\n
