Richard Levenstein and Andrew Turner, two High Point Law extended faculty members, have received two of the four top awards given annually by the American Inns of Court! The AIC is \u201can association of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals from all levels and backgrounds who share a passion for professional excellence,\u201d with chapters in 48 states and nearly 30,000 active members.<\/p>\n
Levenstein was selected to receive the prestigious 2024 American Inns of Court A. Sherman Christensen Award. The award recognizes an Inn member who has provided distinguished, exceptional, and significant leadership to the American Inns of Court movement at the local, state, and national level.<\/p>\n
The award was given to him on October 26, 2024, at the American Inns of Court Celebration of Excellence at the Supreme Court of the United States. Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor attended the awards ceremony and offered remarks.<\/p>\n
Turner was selected to receive the prestigious 2024 American Inns of Court Bankruptcy Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes a judge or attorney specializing in bankruptcy law who has exhibited ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession, the rule of law, and personal ethics and integrity. Turner received his award at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges in Seattle in September 2024 and was recognized during Celebration of Excellence ceremony at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
Levenstein is a shareholder at Nason Yeager, a Florida-based law firm, where he practices in the areas of physician and medical staff representation, healthcare law, and complex commercial and civil litigation. Turner practices at Turner Law Firm LLC in New Jersey, where he focuses on creditors\u2019 rights, collections, corporate law, bankruptcy, and civil litigation.<\/p>\n
Former Chief Justice Mark Martin, High Point Law\u2019s Founding Dean and Professor of Law, attended the AIC Celebration of Excellence, where he had a chance to congratulate Levenstein and Turner in person. He had these fond words to say about both award recipients:<\/p>\n
Richard has been a champion of the American Inn of Court movement, so I was delighted to see him recognized for his selfless service to the legal profession and his tireless effort to protect an impartial judiciary.<\/p>\n
As for Andy, he spearheaded the movement to establish an alliance of Inns of Court dedicated to the practice of bankruptcy law and was even the mastermind behind creating this award. I\u2019m glad to finally see him on its receiving end.<\/p>\n
When asked for comment about being recognized with such a prestigious honor, Levenstein remarked:<\/p>\n
It was humbling to be honored and to have received the Christensen Award at the US Supreme Court. The Inns of Court is an amazing organization, which makes a difference every day. Being part of it has been and continues to be an honor and privilege.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Turner too was asked about receiving his award, and he offered the following:<\/p>\n
