Professor Natt Gantt has spent much of his career focused on how to improve law student and lawyer well-being, and his time\u00a0at HPU Law has been no exception. Recently, this focus has been recognized and expanded in multiple professional areas.<\/p>\n
Professor Gantt has been re-appointed by the incoming ABA president to the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP) Advisory Commission. This group advises CoLAP, which “is devoted to the advancement of well-being in the legal profession and to assure that every judge, lawyer and law student has access to support and assistance when confronting alcoholism, substance use disorders or mental health issues so that lawyers are able to recover, families are preserved and clients and other members of the public are protected.”<\/p>\n

In addition to his ABA service, Professor Gantt authored a chapter in the recent publication\u00a0Sabbath as Resilience: Spiritual Refreshment for a Stressed-Out World.\u00a0<\/em>The book is authored by the Fellows of the Mockler Center for Faith & Ethics in the Public Square at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Gantt serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Center. The book includes chapters from economists, philosophers, and theologians on the relevance of Sabbath in our frenetic modern times. Using lawyers and the legal profession as a springboard, Professor Gantt writes about how our modern conception of time contrasts with a biblical conception and how recapturing a biblical conception can promote rest and well-being among those in the legal profession and beyond.<\/p>\n In reflecting on his recent efforts, Professor Gantt said, \u201cImproving the well-being of law students and lawyers\u00a0requires creative, interdisciplinary thinking. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with colleagues at the ABA, Gordon-Conwell, and the Institute for Well-Being in Law, where I serve as VP of Law Schools, in tackling this important issue.
