For second-year law students at HPU, showing up to Business Associations class last week meant getting to hear from extended faculty member and former Exxon Mobil Vice President and General Counsel, Randall Ebner. He taught three class sessions from October 27-31, primarily focused on dominant shareholders and shareholder derivative actions.<\/p>\n

Students were enthusiastic about the chance to hear from Ebner. Danika Huizinga commented, \u201cProfessor Ebner brings real-world insight drawn from his experience working with various corporations. My interests lie in corporate law, and having the opportunity to learn from a well-recognized and respected business professional has been invaluable.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to his rise at Exxon Mobil spanning a 40-year career, Ebner\u2019s work with a variety of legal professional organizations has focused on improvement of both the proper operation and fairness of the United States legal system. He still serves as co-chair of the General Counsel Committee for the National Center for State Courts, as well as chair of the board of trustees of the Center for American and International Law (CAIL).<\/p>\n

HPU Professor of Law Tom Molony, who teaches Business Associations, expressed his appreciation of Ebner\u2019s visit: \u201cRandy\u2019s willingness to share his wisdom and knowledge with our students is a tremendous gift.\u00a0Randy makes the students\u2019 classroom experience all the richer, and I am very grateful for having the opportunity to collaborate with him.\u201d Ebner was similarly positive about the week, saying: \u201cI am excited and inspired by the students\u2019 intellect,\u00a0energy, and enthusiasm I\u00a0experienced at HPU’s wonderful\u00a0law school. I look forward to continuing to help educate future generations of HPU law students.\u201d Former Chief Justice Mark Martin, Founding Dean and Professor of Law, stated:<\/p>\n
