High Point University\u2019s Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law Pro Bono Program recently hosted two events that expanded access to justice while giving students meaningful, hands-on legal experience: a Pro Bono Party for NC Lawyers on Call (4ALL) and a Pro Bono Lawyer on the Line event with Legal Aid of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Pro Bono Party for NC Lawyers on Call (4ALL)<\/strong><\/p>\n

On March 6, HPU Law students joined local attorneys to support the statewide 4ALL service day, where volunteers answer legal questions from North Carolinians on issues such as family law, housing, and estate planning.<\/p>\n

Students assisted with intake and observed attorneys advising callers. Together, volunteers answered more than 495 calls<\/strong>, helping individuals better understand their legal options. One student shared that the most meaningful part was hearing the relief of callers who felt heard and supported.<\/p>\n

Pro Bono Lawyer on the Line with Legal Aid of North Carolina<\/strong>
\nOn March 20, HPU Law students worked alongside attorneys to assist clients with housing-related issues. Under supervision, students reviewed case files, communicated directly with clients, and provided follow-up legal guidance.<\/p>\n

For many, it was their first experience working directly with clients\u2014building essential skills in communication, issue-spotting, and practical advocacy.<\/p>\n

Former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice and founding Dean Mark Martin commented,<\/p>\n
