On September 3, the High Point University Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law hosted its annual Pro Bono Kickoff, welcoming students to learn more about the school\u2019s commitment to service and the many opportunities available to make a difference in the community. Students met members of the Pro Bono Board and explored ways to gain valuable, hands-on legal experience while helping address unmet legal needs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"HPU<\/p>\n

Several pro bono projects are already planned for the fall, including Lawyer on the Line with Legal Aid of North Carolina, election protection hotline work with Democracy NC, and a domestic violence protection project with Safe Alliance in Charlotte. High Point Law will also host special events in recognition of National Celebration of Pro Bono Week, October 25\u201331, 2026, providing additional opportunities for students to serve individuals and communities in need of legal assistance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For High Point Law, pro bono service is an important part of preparing students to become skilled, ethical, and service-minded lawyer-leaders. Aidan Reyna, Student Director of the HPU Law Pro Bono Board, emphasized the value these opportunities provide to students. \u201cPro Bono at High Point Law aims to not only meet underserved legal needs in the community, but also to impact our students by providing them with fulfilling legal experiences. We hope that by providing a wide array of opportunities for involvement, students develop critical legal skills that can be used throughout their careers, find new areas of law that interest them, and develop a commitment to improving access to justice,” Reyna said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As High Point Law continues to build its culture of service, students are gaining an early understanding that being a lawyer means more than mastering the law\u2014it also means using those skills to serve others and strengthen the communities in which they live and work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Founding Dean and former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Martin said, <\/span><\/p>\n
