Reference librarians are available in person at the reference desk in Smith Library and at the Wanek Center Learning Commons, as well as through our phone, chat, and email reference services. Librarians are also available for <a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/owa\/calendar\/HPULibrariesAppointments@highpointuniversity.onmicrosoft.com\/bookings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">individual research appointments<\/a> upon request. If you have any questions about reference services, please e-mail <a href=\"mailto:reference@highpoint.edu\">reference@highpoint.edu.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Instructional Services<\/h4>\n<p align=\"left\">The HPU Libraries Reference &amp; Instructional Services staff provides library instruction in numerous forms to HPU faculty, staff, and students. According to our mission statement, we:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">endeavor to teach students how to use library resources by offering research sessions that are coupled to classes at the University as well as workshops offered throughout the semester.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">strive to educate information-literate lifelong learners. Information literacy enhances the pursuit of knowledge by preparing students to think critically about the information they use for their academic, professional, and personal lives.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In support of this mission, we offer the following services:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Library Instruction Sessions<\/strong> &#8211; We work with faculty to teach one or more in-class sessions that are customized to a particular course and research assignments. The class can meet in the library&#8217;s 32-seat computer lab or in your designated classroom. These sessions can vary in terms of length, content, and format, so contact your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/library\/departmental-liaisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">departmental liaison librarian<\/a> to discuss your needs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research Consultations<\/strong> &#8211; We offer one-on-one, in-depth research assistance through individual research consultations. This is particularly helpful for students working on research projects in upper-level courses, or for any student who needs more in-depth help. You can schedule an appointment by utilizing our <a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/owa\/calendar\/HPULibrariesAppointments@highpointuniversity.onmicrosoft.com\/bookings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scheduling calendar<\/a> or contacting your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/library\/departmental-liaisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">designated library liaison<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customized Research Guides<\/strong> &#8211; Research guides are created to support individual subjects, courses, or topics. They can also be customized for use with online or hybrid courses. Browse our current <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.highpoint.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">research guides<\/a>, and contact us if you have a request or suggestion for a research guide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Syllabus Statement<\/h4>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">HPU Librarians provide support to students in all subject areas. Librarians are available to assist students with research, citation, and library resources in person at Smith Library, Wanek Center Learning Commons, and School of Education Resource Center.
