Among its many other shortcomings, 2020 saw a lapse in movie releases, with theaters across the country closed for months due to the COVID-19 crisis. Movies in production were put on hold to protect the cast.<\/p>\n

One thing people had plenty of time to do in lockdown, however, was catch up on their reading–and great books are often the inspiration for award-winning movies and television shows. The coming year appears to be no exception, with everything from a beloved children’s classic to a sci-fi thriller coming to life on the big screen.<\/p>\n

The following list includes eight books becoming movies in 2021. We have copies of the books in our various collections (and we encourage reading!) so here they are in expected movie release order.<\/p>\n
