\"\"High Point University–formerly High Point College–has celebrated the holidays in various ways during the years, from concerts, Christmas dinners, lessons and carols, to our Community Christmas Celebration.<\/p>\n

On display at Smith Library this holiday season are some of the past and present cards from our HPU presidents. Also included are programs from our annual prayer breakfasts.\u00a0 Fun fact: We once had a combined Christmas Choir of faculty and staff that entertained special guests during a Christmas program.<\/p>\n

The Library Tree<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Smith Library’s Christmas tree goes up near the reference desk this time of year, but is seldom traditional. Several years ago librarians got creative and crafted a tree made entirely from bound periodicals. Last year, students made ornaments for our “wishing tree” and the result was spectacular!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This year, unique copper ornaments made from the dome of McCulloch Dorm are also on display. McCulloch Hall was built in 1924 and was named after Dr. J. F. McCulloch, a native of Guilford County.\u00a0 High Point College was the dream of Rev. McCulloch.\u00a0 In 1975 the building was damaged by fire.\u00a0 Finally in July of 1987, the dorm was demolished.\u00a0 The copper ornaments were handcrafted from the eight-sided dome atop the cupola of McCulloch Hall.<\/p>\n
