Meanwhile, we have been busy on campus preparing for the 2019-2020 academic year.<\/p>\n<p>More than 40 new faculty members will be joining our family in the coming weeks. These faculty, who are well-qualified and eager to begin the fall semester, represent most all academic disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, hundreds of High Point University students have completed challenging, exciting and rewarding\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/associated-site\/internships\/\">internships<\/a>\u00a0all over the world, applying classroom learning to real-world situations. For example,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alexa Maldonado from New York scored internship experience with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/08\/internship-profile-alexa-maldonado-jumpstarts-a-career-with-ben-jerrys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s ice cream<\/a> as a marketing and sales coordinator.<\/li>\n<li>Nolan Roth from Nebraska spent the summer with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/08\/internship-profile-nolan-roth-lands-a-stellar-internship-with-nasa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NASA&#8217;s Goddard Space Flight Center<\/a> in Maryland for an internship researching as a planetary environments laboratory intern.<\/li>\n<li>Catherine Ford worked as a public and media affairs intern with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/08\/internship-profile-catherine-ford-uses-her-major-at-the-united-states-trade-representative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United States Trade Representative<\/a>, Executive Office of the President in Washington D.C.<\/li>\n<li>And Natalie De Boer from Michigan put her marketing major to use as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/07\/internship-profile-natalie-de-boer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BISSELL Homecare<\/a> sales merchandising intern for BISSELL this summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In our May term, nearly 125 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/06\/hpu-students-gain-global-experience-through-maymesters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HPU students traveled\u00a0<\/a>to 17 countries through 14 diverse and interactive programs on five continents. With new destinations added every year.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, more of our students worked with faculty members on campus this summer in a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2019\/07\/uncovering-opportunity-through-undergraduate-research-hpu-students-set-themselves-apart-while-making-discoveries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">undergraduate research and creative<\/a> projects.
