Dear HPU Parents,<\/p>\n

Together, we have grown so much this semester.<\/p>\n

It has been a time of transformation and caring for one another. And while some events and experiences were altered in order to stay safe during the pandemic, I want you to know that our campus remained committed to crucial learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom to support the growth of your student.<\/p>\n

Service is an important part of that. Each year, HPU students contribute 110,000 hours of service to their local and global communities.<\/p>\n

This year started off with members of the Class of 2024\u2019s\u00a0Common Experience service project. Together, our newest students gathered over 1,000 books to be donated in \u201cWelcome Back\u201d kits for children in local elementary schools once they return in-person. The Stout School of Education Fellows assembled the kits and delivered them to local schools.<\/p>\n

Students have also been busy with many other locally-based service projects.<\/a> For example, the Biology Club packed more than 1,300 science kits for local children. In addition to science learning materials, the kits included small snacks and toiletries. The kits were sanitized and sealed before they were mailed to a local child.<\/p>\n

This week, HPU will celebrate Veteran\u2019s Day virtually to honor the heroes of our nation for their service. Even during the pandemic, we have found a way to honor our veterans and celebrate our values as a God, family and country school.<\/p>\n

I continue to be amazed with the thoughtful acts of generosity that our students display \u2013 how they live, how they serve and how they know that anything is possible.<\/p>\n

And, as the holidays continue approaching, you will see more stories about students donating Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts to local families in our community.<\/p>\n

In this season of gratitude, I am eternally grateful to be part of your student\u2019s journey. This pandemic has made me reflective, tearful and emotional, but most of all, thankful for the eternal relationships that we have in the HPU family and community.<\/p>\n

May we all embrace the blessings of Thanksgiving, and most of all, may we continue to learn and grow together.<\/p>\n
