I want you to know that our campus is committed to crucial learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom to support the growth of your student.<\/p>\n<p>Service is an important part of that. HPU students contribute 500,000 hours of service to their local and global communities.<\/p>\n<p>This year started off with members of the Class of 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2022\/08\/hpus-freshmen-surprise-local-children-with-new-bikes\/\">surprising local children with bikes<\/a>. Together, during a team-building exercise, HPU freshmen built 150 bikes.<\/p>\n<p>Our newest students also gathered over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2022\/11\/hpu-freshmen-share-books-with-local-schools\/\">1,000 books to be donated to local elementary schools<\/a>. The Stout School of Education Fellows delivered them to local schools.<\/p>\n<p>Students have also been busy with many other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/category\/caring-people\/\">locally-based service projects.<\/a> For example, the Department of Physician Assistant Studies held a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/blog\/2022\/10\/hpus-department-of-physician-assistant-studies-holds-food-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">food drive<\/a> and collected nearly 1,300 individual items of food to be donated.<\/p>\n<p>This week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/community\/veterans-day-2022\/\">HPU celebrated Veterans Day<\/a> to honor the heroes of our nation for their service. We honor 1,500 veterans with the help of 100 student, faculty and staff volunteers and we celebrated our values as a God, family and country school.<\/p>\n<p>I continue to be amazed with the thoughtful acts of generosity that our students display \u2013 how they live, how they serve and how they know that anything is possible.<\/p>\n<p>And, as the holidays continue approaching, you will see more stories about students donating Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts to local families in our community.<\/p>\n<p>In this season of gratitude, I am eternally grateful to be part of your student\u2019s journey.
