Dr. John Turpin, dean of the School of Art and Design, has spent the last twenty years studying the history of interiors and the interior design profession. He has published articles on the early decorators (Dorothy Draper, in particular), the roles women have played in the development of the interior design profession and the impact of extrinsic forces on designed spaces. He was a founding co-editor of Interiors: Design, Architecture, Culture and is the current editor of the Journal of Interior Design. He can speak about any one of the programs offered in the School of Art and Design.
