RASP is ready to help! Below is the broad process for finding an opportunity, preparing a proposal, and obtaining institutional proposal review and approval.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>Determine your interest<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>What piques your interest?<\/li>\n<li>What is your area of expertise?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>2.<\/strong> <strong>Find opportunities<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Use an opportunity search engine, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantforward.com\/index\">GrantForward<\/a>, to identify opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Think about possible supporting entities that are local to High Point and the Triad region. Many companies and foundations seek to support those in their community.<\/li>\n<li>Ask your mentors and colleagues who have experience in your area about possible opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Review the CV of those who are successful in your field. Most researchers post their CV online. Look and see what opportunities they have had funded and by what entity.<\/li>\n<li>After you find an opportunity, ensure that you are an eligible Principal Investigator and High Point University is an eligible entity and that there is sufficient time to prepare a quality proposal.\u00a0 A rule of thumb for those starting with grant writing is that it will take you three times the amount of time you initially expect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>3. Prepare your proposal<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Read the sponsor&#8217;s request for proposal at least twice.<\/li>\n<li>Determine what must be in the proposal and what is required to submit the proposal to create a checklist.<\/li>\n<li>Review the RASP website for helpful <a title=\"Proposal Development\" href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/start\/routing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">proposal development resources<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the project <a title=\"Budgeting Procedures\" href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/forms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">budget <\/a>according to High Point University standards.<\/li>\n<li>Common High Point University <a title=\"Institutional Information\" href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">identifiers and information<\/a> are available on the RASP website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>4. Complete the RASP Conflict of Interest process<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the RASP <a title=\"Conflict of Interest\" href=\"https:\/\/highpointuniversity.sharepoint.com\/sites\/HPUResearchAdministration\/Shared%20Documents\/Forms\/AllItems.aspx?viewid=e07f3f40%2D81b1%2D4d20%2D9116%2D8dd78d2daba2&amp;id=%2Fsites%2FHPUResearchAdministration%2FShared%20Documents%2F02%5FCompliance%2FCOI%2FCurrent%20Policy%2FHPU%20COI%20Policy%2C%20Finalized%20%281%2D10%2D13%29%2Epdf&amp;parent=%2Fsites%2FHPUResearchAdministration%2FShared%20Documents%2F02%5FCompliance%2FCOI%2FCurrent%20Policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Conflict of Interest policy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a Conflict of Interest disclosure, sign it and take the associated training in CITI.<\/li>\n<li>Send the signed disclosure and training certificate to <a title=\"Email RASP\" href=\"mailto:rasp@highpoint.edu\">rasp@highpoint.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>RASP will complete the certification process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>5.<\/strong> Route the proposal for institutional approval<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete and submit the application for routing through <a href=\"https:\/\/highpoint.cayuse424.com\/\">Cayuse<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all compliance committees (Institutional Review Board, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and Institutional Biosafety Committee) review your proposal if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the Cayuse record for routing <strong>at least 10 business<\/strong> days prior to the deadline.<\/li>\n<li>RASP will complete the review process and may schedule a meeting to discuss the review.<\/li>\n<li>RASP will provide you with final approval of your application and will submit the application in most cases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>6.<\/strong> Wait for sponsor notification and stay positive!<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Do you have questions?
