Effective January 25, 2023, NIH requires all awards generating scientific data include data sharing plans in the application.\u00a0 Plans should address:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data type<\/li>\n<li>Related tools, software, and\/or code<\/li>\n<li>Standards applied<\/li>\n<li>Data preservation, access, and associated timelines<\/li>\n<li>Access, distribution, or reuse considerations<\/li>\n<li>Oversight of data management and sharing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Costs associated with compliance with your data sharing plan to make the data accessible and reusable for other researchers should be included in your budget.<\/p>\n<p>NIH also provides some sample plans for reference:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/start\/data-management-plans\/human-genomic_template_v2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2804\">Human Genomic Template<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/start\/data-management-plans\/human-mri-and-clinical-assessments_template_v2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2807\">Human MRI and Clinical Assessments Template<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/start\/data-management-plans\/mouse-genomic_template_v2-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2816\">Mouse Genomic Template<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/rasp\/start\/data-management-plans\/secondary-data-analysis_template_v2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2819\">Secondary Data Analysis Template<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>National Science Foundation<\/h2>\n<p>Proposals must include a data management plan of no more that 2 pages and should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data Type<\/li>\n<li>Standards applied<\/li>\n<li>Policies for access and sharing<\/li>\n<li>Policies and provisions for re-use, re-distribution, and production of derivatives<\/li>\n<li>Plans for archiving and preservation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Resources<\/h3>\n<p>There are a number of resources to assist in preparing a data management plan.\u00a0 One of the most helpful resources is the DMP Tool.\u00a0 The DMP Tool is a software package created by a group of research institutions to better manage their research data.\u00a0 While HPU is not a collaborator, HPU faculty can still create an account use the tool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/bfa\/dias\/policy\/dmp.jsp\">National Science Foundation<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sharing.nih.gov\/data-management-and-sharing-policy\/planning-and-budgeting-for-data-management-and-sharing\/writing-a-data-management-and-sharing-plan#sample-plans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Institutes of Health<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neh.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2018-06\/data_management_plans_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Endowment for the Humanities<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Do you have questions?
