Managed by the Department of Health and Human Services, Grants.gov is an E-Government initiative operating under the governance of the Office of Management and Budget.<\/p>\n<p>Under the President&#8217;s Management Agenda, the office was chartered to deliver a system that provides a centralized location for grant seekers to find and apply for federal funding opportunities. Today, the Grants.gov system houses information on over\u00a0<a>1,000\u00a0<\/a>grant programs and vets grant applications for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grants.gov\/learn-grants\/grant-making-agencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal grant-making agencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Science Foundation (NSF)<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The National Science Foundation funds research and education in most\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/funding\/index.jsp#areas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fields of science and engineering<\/a>. It does this through grants, and cooperative agreements to more than 2,000 colleges, universities, K-12 school systems, businesses, informal science organizations and other research organizations throughout the United States. The Foundation accounts for about one-fourth of federal support to academic institutions for basic research. Following are the research areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biological Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Computer and Information Science and Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Crosscutting and NSF-wide<\/li>\n<li>Education and Human Resources<\/li>\n<li>Engineering, Environmental Research and Education<\/li>\n<li>Geosciences<\/li>\n<li>Integrative Activities<\/li>\n<li>International Sciences and Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mathematical and Physical Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/funding\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Institutes of Health (NIH)<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation\u2019s medical research agency \u2014 making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.<\/p>\n<p>The National Institutes of Health is made up of 27 different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/institutes-nih\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institutes and Centers<\/a>. Each has its own specific research agenda, often focusing on particular diseases or body systems.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neh.gov\/grants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency that supports works in the humanities.\u00a0 NEH grants typically go to cultural institutions, such as museums, archives, libraries, colleges, universities, public television, and radio stations, and to individual scholars. The grants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>strengthen teaching and learning in schools and colleges<\/li>\n<li>facilitate research and original scholarship<\/li>\n<li>provide opportunities for lifelong learning<\/li>\n<li>preserve and provide access to cultural and educational resources<\/li>\n<li>strengthen the institutional base of the humanities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Established by Congress in 1965, the NEA is the independent federal agency whose funding and support gives Americans the opportunity to participate in the arts, exercise their imaginations, and develop their creative capacities. Through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies, and the philanthropic sector, the NEA supports arts learning, affirms and celebrates America\u2019s rich and diverse cultural heritage, and extends its work to promote equal access to the arts in every community across America.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Questions?
