In addition to being a precondition for receiving financial aid funds from federal and state governments, regional accreditation is also a kind of &#8220;seal of approval&#8221; that reflects an academic institution&#8217;s fitness to educate students.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that High Point University consistently and accurately represents its accreditation status, this page is updated as HPU\u2019s or its individual academic programs\u2019 accreditation statuses change. Current statuses are presented below.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High Point University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s, and doctoral degrees. High Point University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of High Point University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, by calling 404-679-4097, or by using information available on SACSCOC\u2019s website (<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacscoc.org\/\">www.sacscoc.org<\/a><\/u>).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>AAQEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High Point University is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The programs listed below have been awarded accreditation by AAQEP through June 30, 2030. Accreditation acknowledges that a program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bachelor of Arts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elementary Education K-6<\/li>\n<li>Middle Grades Education 6-9 (Language Arts, Math, Science, &amp; Social Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Secondary Education 9-12 (English, Math, Science, &amp; Social Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Special Education K-12 (Adapted Curriculum &amp; General Curriculum)<\/li>\n<li>Health and Physical Education K-12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Master of Arts in Teaching:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elementary Education K-6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Master of Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elementary Education K-6<\/li>\n<li>Special Education K-12 (Adapted Curriculum &amp; General Curriculum)<\/li>\n<li>Educational Leadership (for Principal Licensure)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Doctor of Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educational Leadership (for Superintendent Licensure)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ABET<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission\u2019s General Criteria and program Criteria for Computer Science.<\/p>\n<p>The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission\u2019s General Criteria and program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission\u2019s General Criteria and program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ACPE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High Point University Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy\u2019s Doctor of Pharmacy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, 190 South LaSalle Street, Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60503, (312) 644-3575; FAX (866) 228-2631, web site <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acpe-accredit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.acpe-accredit.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ACS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/education\/policies\/acs-approval-program\/guidelines-supplements.html\">Committee on Professional Training from the American Chemical Society<\/a> (ACS) has certified the bachelor of science degree from Department of Chemistry at High Point University.&#8221;ACS-approved programs offer a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ARC-PA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the High Point University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by High Point University.<\/p>\n<p>Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently-accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be June, 2029. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CAATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Master of Science in Athletic Training program at High Point University is accredited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caate.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education<\/a> (CAATE). Upon completion of the program students are eligible to sit for the national Board of Certification (BOC) examination to become a certified athletic trainer.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CAPTE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Effective May 12, 2020, the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703-706-3245; email: <a href=\"mailto:accreditation@apta.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accreditation@apta.org<\/a>); website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capteonline.org\">http:\/\/www.capteonline.org<\/a>). Caine School of Nursing baccalaureate degree in nursing program at High Point University is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, D.C. 20001, (202) 887-6791. Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CIDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High Point University\u2019s Interior Design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and meets the education requirements for practicing designers applying to take the NCIDQ exam.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CODA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program is accredited and has been granted the accreditation status of \u201cinitial accreditation\u201d by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
