How to Perform Hands-Only CPR:\u00a0
\n<\/a><\/h3>\n

When someone’s blood flow or breathing stops, seconds count. Permanent brain damage or death happens quickly. Performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) can save a life.<\/p>\n

A national shift in the practice of how citizens perform CPR is underway – gone are the days of mouth-to-mouth, with Hands-Only CPR often preferred for the untrained individuals.<\/p>\n

1. CALL\u00a0911\u00a0or 336-841-9111.<\/strong>
\nIf the scene is safe, check the patient for unresponsiveness. If he is not breathing or not breathing normally, or is not responsive, call for help.<\/p>\n

2. PUSH HARD AND FAST<\/strong><\/p>\n

If the patient is still not breathing normally or moving, begin chest compressions. Push down in the center of the chest at a depth of about 2 inches. Pump hard and fast at the rate of 100\/minute.<\/p>\n

    Continue compressions until help arrives.<\/strong> It may help to take turns with another person.<\/p>\n
