Requirements for Elected Positions

Academic Standing
Candidates must be a student at High Point University. They must be in good academic standing at the time of the application and for the term of service. Candidates must have and maintain a minimum, cumulative GPA of 2.7.

Disciplinary Standing
Candidates are required to be in good disciplinary standing with the University. Having a disciplinary history with the University or department does not eliminate a candidate from consideration, but the nature of the incident(s) may have bearing on eligibility. Candidates for the position cannot be on disciplinary probation.

Elections Timeline

February 6th: Interest Meeting

February 6th: Applications open following the Interest Meeting, apply using the form below.

February 20th: Completed application due via the form below with Letters of Intent by 5pm.

February 24th – February 26th: Open period to collect required signatures of support. Signatures are due by 5pm on March 5th.

March 2nd: Letters of Intent will be read by the candidates at Senate March 2nd.

March 14th: A required, mandatory Candidate Campaign meeting will be held for all candidates. Election guidelines will be covered and campaigning will officially begin at the conclusion of the meeting.

March 15th – March 22nd: Campaigning. The period begins on March 15th after the Candidate Campaign meeting and ends on March 22nd at 12pm.

March 19th – March 22nd: Voting. Voting will take place on HPU Connect. Polls will open at 12pm on March 19th and will close at 12pm on Wednesday, March 22nd.

March 23rd:  Results given to candidates by 12pm.

March 30th: Vice President Election. The Vice President election will be held at the Senate meeting. Nominations will be taken from the Senate floor. Candidates will have the opportunity to answer questions and speak on their platform before Senators vote. The results will be announced by the end of the Senate meeting.
